What a top top day and abit unexpected as forecast not brilliant !!! Mag and I started the day by biking to the River Orwell mouth at Landguard for breakfast and to watch the boats then with the breeze filling in went home to get my boards and take them to The Dip.I rigged big and set off on a beat down the coast at high water. There was just enough wind to risk a crossing of the shipping channel and I made it across no problem just behind a large ship and set off to Horsey Island another 5 miles across Dovbercourt Bay.I stopped for a snack by the sunken barges before sailing further inland to see if I could get around the Island but with the tide now running out I didn't want to risk running out of water so headed back toward Felixstrowe. There was two boats approaching the docks one a large dredger which I was going to miss but the huge container ship coming was a close call so I gybed and had a reach into Dovercourt giving the ship time to pass. The sea was really big in the river mouth with the tide flowing out but sailed through it okay and then had a really good reach nearly 8 miles !!!! to Bawdsey Martello :) I was enjoying being out all by myself in the warm sunshine that I beat all the way back to Landguard beach where I met up with Peter Goodchild out on his longboard and David Coles on his formula kit with his brand new Severne Reflex 12m - a top looking sail too :) After a chat it was another great broad reach back to my van where I was the last to leave the beach again !!!

So it begs the question where were all the windsufers ??? you missed a fantastic days sailing !!! and the 12 kiters out outnumbered us poor old windsurfers 4 to 1 !!!
